Several People Are Sentenced

Aside from Grand Jury, Jasper Superior Court has been busy over the past few weeks settling criminal cases. The following results are from sessions handled in December 2023.

On December 19, Alehandjro Prescott was sentenced to five years with the first 30 days in Jasper County jail for driving the wrong way on a one-way roadway, driving without a license, obstruction of an officer. He was fined $1,500 and credited with time served.

Elijah Luke Thompson, sentenced to three years with the first 90 days in jail for three counts of possession of a schedule II controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and interference with government property. Fined $2,000 and credited with time served

Justin Phillips, sentenced to 48 months with the first 60 days in jail for two counts of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, two counts of driving while license suspended, two counts of possession of marijuana, two counts of driving on wrong side of roadway, two counts of tag light violation, and possession of drug related object. Fined $5,000 and credited with time served.

Lindsey Clayton, sentenced to three years of probation for two counts of possession of a schedule II controlled substance. Fined $3,000 and credited for time served.

Probation modifications included:

Tony Bohanon, probation revoked to 60 days in jail with credit for time served for a positive drug test and being terminated from a substance abuse program.

Cordaerion Tripp, probation revoked to 60 days in jail and credited for time served for relocating residence without permission, failed to pay restitution, and failed to make court payments. Also ordered to pay monthly toward his restitution, obtain a substance abuse evaluation, and banned contact from previous victims.

Jimmy Lee Jackson, probation revoked to one year in state prison for positive drug test, unknown residence, failed to enroll in substance abuse program, and failed to pay court fees.

Kenneth Standifer, probation revoked to jail for positive drug test.

Jason Grindle, probation revoked to 60-90 days in a probation detention center for positive drug tests, failed to report for substance abuse evaluation and provide proof of evaluation, and failed to pay court fees.

Bond orders were issued for Donald Loren Pope, Sr. in the amount of $11,000 for unindicted charges of two counts of aggravated assault and driving under the influence with bond conditions. Also, Brandon McGaha was granted at $25,000 bond for four counts of homicide by vessel in the first degree, three counts of operating a vessel under the influence, reckless operation of a vessel, and endangering a child while operating a vessel under the influence.

On December 12, Brianna Curry was sentenced to one year of probation for driving without a license, possession of marijuana, and giving false information to a law enforcement officer. She was fined $500.

Two probation revocations were handed down. Frederico Epps was sentenced to a recovery treatment program in Macon, where he will stay for a minimum of six months, but will remain in jail until a bed is available. He was sentenced for smoking marijuana in jail, failure to report to probation officer in North Carolina, moved without permission, failed to provide proof of family violence and substance abuse classes. Also, David Banks was sentenced to 60 days in jail for a positive drug test.
