John Wesley ‘Jack’ Elliott, Jr.

John Wesley “Jack” Elliott, Jr., of Monticello, passed away Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.
Jack Elliott was born in West Grove, Pa. on April 7, 1938 to the late John Wesley Elliott, Sr. and Caroline Elizabeth Clemens Elliott. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Stephen Rea Elliott in 2016; and brother-in-law, Steve Pepe.
After graduating from high school, he attended Whitworth College in Spokane, Wash. on a basketball scholarship. He was a member of the Delaware County Hall of Fame for basketball.
He began working for the Sears Roebuck Company in 1959 and worked as a purchasing agent for retail and catalog sales and retired after 38 years.
Jack and Linda moved to Jasper County in 2001. He was well-known in the Monticello community for all the years of walking around town and speaking to the local townsfolk.
He is survived by his wife, Dora Linda Hall Elliott of Monticello; son, John Wesley Elliott, III (Fran) of Monticello; grandchildren, Ross Clapper, Brian Clapper, Sarah (Jesse) Gentes and John Wesley “Wes” Elliott, IV; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Judy Elliott Pepe of Florida; and two nephews.
