SMOKE OVER MONTICELLO

Five cooks competed in Smoke Over Monticello last Saturday at the Blaque Butterfly at Reese Hall on Greene Street.
There were several vendors offering merchandise, food and drinks. Children were entertained with a bounce house, and patrons had an opportunity to taste the barbecue. Live music entertained those who attended. Competing teams were Triple C, Heavy Metal Hogz, Major Meats, Just Here for the Beer, and Eric Brown. The head cook for each team is pictured above with event organizer Keis Patterson.
Winners were Travis Mizell with Heavy Metal Hogz who won for his ribs and won the People’s Choice award. Major Oliver with Major’s Meats won the pulled pork category, and Hal Wagner with Just Here for the Beer, won the brisket category.
The elite sponsor for the group was Royal Oak, who donated 500 pounds of charcoal. Premium sponsors included Heartland Chiropractic, Stewart Towing & Recovery, The Monticello News, and APC signs.
