Mrs. Ruthie Mae Tinsley Richards
A celebration of life for Mrs. Ruthie Mae Tinsley Richards, who died June 27, 2024, was held Friday, July 5, 2024 at Righteous Temple UPC in Monticello. Bishop Charles Davis, pastor.
Ruthie Mae Tinsley Richards was born on September 2, 1942, to the late Charlie and Jessie Tinsley. She was the second of seven children.
Ruthie was educated in Jasper County public school system. She was married for 40 years to the love of her life, John Wesley Richards, and in that union three children were born. Ruthie was a stay-at-home mother for several years and would later gain employment at GA Pacific and retired from there in 1995.
She committed her life to Jesus Christ at an early age. She was a member of Righteous Temple UPC.
You could usually find Ruthie caring for someone in one capacity or another. She had a true servant’s heart. Ruthie also loved planting flowers, doing crossword puzzles, reading, and watching soap operas. When her children were little, she was known as the “Candy Lady” and enjoyed selling moon pies and candy to the children in the neighborhood.
Ruthie was preceded in death by her husband, John Wesley Richards, Jr.; her parents, Charlie and Jessie Tinsley; siblings, Alberta Kelly, David Tinsley, Marshall Tinsley, and Charlie Tinsley Jr.
Ruthie leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Susie Bullard of Monticello, and Linda Jones of Dallas, GA; a son, Gabriel Richards of Syracuse, NY; two siblings, Martha (Rufus) White and Willie Tinsley of Monticello; sister-in-law, Annette Talmadge of Jonesboro. Also, six grandchildren, Anthawn Bullard, Jadda Riley (Clarence), Jomanda Richards (Mallory), Mortavious Richards, Tiffany Catarroja (Mikko), and Caleb Jones; six great-grandchildren, Matthew, Mia, Milana, Jaxon, Mikaela, and Austin; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
