Pamela Kay Ford

Pamela Kay Ford of Monticello went home to be with her Lord and Savior during the evening hours of Tuesday, July 9, 2024. Pam was 62 years old.

She was born Pamela Kay Adams on March 21, 1962, in Austell, to Lynda Daniell Fink and the late Archie David Adams Jr. Pam graduated with honors from South Cobb High School in 1980. During this time in her life, dancing and roller skating were two hobbies that Pam thoroughly enjoyed doing. Her camping spirit was introduced early on as the family would often go boating and camping at Lake Lanier.

Pam, who would later become affectionately known as “Mam” by her grandchildren, enjoyed all facets of life. A warm smile, loving embrace, a mercifully caring heart and beautiful soul would only be the beginning of the story that could be told of our sweet Mam.

A Summer or Fall would not be complete without Mam going camping and ‘Jeeping’ the low traveled and often times forgotten dirt roads of the Blue Ridge mountains. She loved walking the many mountain streams with her grandchildren; bear spotting (“Oh look I see one over on that hill way over yonder! See it?!”); along the way through her travels.

A week would never pass without Mam sharing multiple scriptures, devotions, poems or newly discovered spiritual songs to the ones that she held dear. Mam would never miss her grandchildren’s school, sporting or other events promoting the grandchildren’s’ achievements. She loved Thanksgiving and Christmas because all of the families were coming to Mam’s house to share in the togetherness.

Additionally, each Christmas she would take time out from the meal, gather all of the children and grandchildren around and share the story/scripture of Jesus’ birth, often times including props to showcase the Nativity scene.

Mam and her husband, Calvin were married in February of 2003 and shortly after moved from McDonough to Monticello where they built a home, breaking away from their old lives and beginning anew together in happiness. Thereafter, Mam and Calvin joined New Rocky Creek Baptist Church where her heart and mind thrived for her love of the Lord.

As told, there was near to zero that Mam did not have her soft fingers on within the grounds of New Rocky Creek Baptist. Known for her tireless work ethic, Mam wore many hats and held many ‘Director of’ titles in the church ministry culminating in the spread of the gospel to as many possible souls as her loving words could attract.

Her involvement included, but not only limited to: leading the Women’s Ministry Union, Director of Decorating, Director of Camp Meeting Meal, Leader of Women’s Wednesday Night Meeting, Directing Team for Vacation Bible School and crafts, taught young adults/college class and sang in the choir.

In addition to her father, Mam was preceded in death by her brother, Jeff Adams and step-father, Richard Fink.

Mam is survived by her husband, Raleigh ‘Calvin’ Ford, Sr. of Monticello; mother, Lynda Daniell Fink of McDonough; brother, Dan Fink (Kerry) of Atlanta; sons, Kevin (Stephanie) Clark of McDonough and Mark (Kristen) of Monticello; step-children, Denise (Jeff) Woodward, Cal (Davina) Ford and Stacy (Scott) Cronan, all of McDonough.
