Cougars Prepare for Preseason Scrimmage

Piedmont Academy’s football team will get a warm-up this week prior to the 2024 season but the scrimmage will provide a tough test.

The Cougars will face Flint River Academy on the road in Woodbury at 7 p.m. Flint River won the Class A GIAA state title in 2023 with an undefeated season.

Piedmont Academy coach Clint Satterfield said the scrimmage will be a good experience as the Cougars get set for the 2024 campaign. The Wildcats have been a strong program in recent years winning three state titles and finishing as runner-up another season.

“Going against a quality program will show us where we are and what we still need to work on,” Satterfield said.

The regular season opener will be August 16 at home against Thomas Jefferson.

Piedmont’s Middle School football team will begin its 2024 season Aug. 22 at 4:30 p.m. against Riverside Prep.
