Hurricane Fall Sports Have Begun
Hurricane Fall sports for the 2024-2025 season have begun with Lady Hurricanes Softball earning wins against the AAAAAA Newton High School Lady Rams last Friday and Monday.
The Lady Hurricanes varsity and junior varsity squads hit the diamond for action before school began this week. The varsity ladies, coached by Justin Hamby, are scheduled to play in the Upson Lee tournament this weekend before hosting Griffin High School Tuesday, Aug. 13. Hamby is assisted by coaches Zach Houston and Brittany Carr.
Jasper County Middle School (JCMS) Softball, coached by Nicole Johnson, will begin today, August 8 at Social Circle at 5 p.m. Assistant Coach is Tori Williams.
Lady Hurricanes varsity volleyball was slated to travel Tuesday for a match with Central and Northeast before heading to Newton High School for a varsity/JV doubleheader
Tuesday, August 13 at 5 p.m. Head Coach is Ashleigh Kelly and Assisant Coach is David Aldridge.
JCMS Volleyball will begin Monday, August 12 hosting Monroe County Middle School at 5 p.m. The young squad is coached by Dani Caldwell.
Varsity football will begin tomorrow, August 9 with a scrimmage against Crawford County High School. The team has been busy with conditioning and camps this summer. Last Friday, the Hurricane football teams had an intersquad scrimmage with the JV playing the middle school, followed by a varsity scrimmage. Head Coach is Ashley Henderson, Defensive Coordinator J.R. Ragan, Offensive Coordinator Chris Bragg, Assistant Coaches Nash Bragg, Isaac Clayton, Emmett Clower, Steve Johnson, Kenny Moore, and Jordan Stone.
The varsity Canes season opener will be Friday, August 16 at Taylor County High School with the JV opener on Thursday, August 22 hosting ACE Academy. JCMS will travel to Henderson Middle School on Wednesday, August 21. Chad Estes is head coach with assistants Jonathan Green, Brian Greene, Brady McMichael, and Eddie Roberts.
Varsity Cross Country will begin Saturday, August 17 at Locust Grove High School. Head Coach is Ashley Clegg and assistants are Ryan Warnock and Karen Hays.
