Garner Bryce (Sam) Candler

Garner Bryce (Sam) Candler,76, of Monticello passed away peacefully on September 23, 2024, in his home.

Sam was born in Beckley, W.Va. on August 8, 1948, to Hunter and Georgia (Dean) Candler.

Sam started out his life bravely serving in the U.S. Armed Forces and served in Vietnam in 1968 and 1969.

He worked for several years as a technician before he was disabled in a motorcycle accident. Sam has always loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and golf. This led to his purchase of his beautiful land in Monticello, 27 years ago. Sam and Sandra built a beautiful loving home on this property for all their children to come and enjoy time there.

Sam is survived by his wife, Sandra Candler of Monticello, children, Garner Bryce Candler Jr, Christopher Lawrence (Mandy) Candler, Amber Candler, Hunter Candler and Kendall Candler; grandchildren Christopher Lawrence Candler Jr, James Robert Bryce Candler, Garyson Candler, Lucas Candler, Joseph Stephenson, Allee Stephenson, Bradley, Elizabeth, Haven, Harley, Hazel; siblings Becky Hembree of Dacula.

Sam was preceded in death by children Stacy Candler, Timothy Johnson, Kenny Johnson; parents Hunter and Georgia Candler; siblings Joseph Candler, Danny Candler.

The family of Sam Candler will be welcoming friends and family to join them in a celebration of the life of Garner Bryce Candler Friday, September 27, 2024, from 2pm – 3pm at Wheeler Funeral and Cremation Services.
