Hurricane Forces Changes to Hurricane’s Athletic Schedule

The arrival of Hurricane Helene last week forced some changes to the Monticello Hurricane football schedule.

Last Friday’s game with Utopian Academy has now been rescheduled for Friday, Nov. 8 with the location still at the New Morrow High School facility off Steele Road in Ellenwood.

This Friday the Hurricanes will take on the McNair Mustangs, who are 2-4 overall and 0-2 in the region, but don’t let the record deceive, because both losses were by a touchdown or less. This past Saturday, the Mustangs hosted Lamar County and lost by a three-point margin, 19-16. The week prior, Putnam County was able to pull off a 45-37 victory over the visiting Mustangs, so the Hurricanes will be seeing a team that is battle tested and played close games.

Make it a football weekend, and come out and support the Hurricanes at home this Friday, and on the road on Monday as they work to pick up two big region wins.

After this week the Hurricanes will be off until October 18 when they travel to Social Circle for another region showdown.
