Busy Week

Deputies had their hands full last week with varying accidents, at least two of which involved a chase. The News does not have photos of one chase, but the photo above is from an incident November 8 on Hwy. 212 west near Frank’s Restaurant.

In that incident, Charles Pickett, 35, of Conyers, was driving the BMW (top photo) when a deputy attempted to stop him for speeding. The vehicle fled which ultimately led to the driver losing control and being involved in a violent accident that involved the car becoming airborne and striking the overhead power lines.

The driver was turned over to the Emergency Medical Service (EMS) on scene for transport to seek medical care for his injuries. Warrants were taken for the driver for fleeing and attempting to elude (felony), failure to maintain lane, reckless driving, driving while license suspended or revoked.

Meanwhile, on November 9, the Georgia State Patrol worked a wreck after a chase where Grant Durand Perry, 26, of Monroe is charged with a multitude of charges including serious injury by vehicle, as he ran from the scene after wrecking and leaving his passenger and occupants in the other vehicle injured . His charges are listed in the arrest booking that follows.

The drugs, cash and gun (above) were found after a traffic stop where a Tristan Demming, 24, of Athens was caught with the items.
