J. Smith Is Named 911 Director
Jennifer Smith has been named the director of the local 911 service after serving as interim director since Kimberly LeCroy left some months ago.
The action came at the authority’s regular meeting last Friday. The motion to hire was made by Sabrina Westbrook, and Julie Bennett seconded the motion.
Ms. Smith is going to research retirement issues at the county storage facility to help with retirement issues that are being investigated. She also reported that she and another operator have successfully completed the initial six-week EMD (Emergency Medical Dispatch) training course. They are in week three of the next phase in train-the-trainer course and expect to train all communication officers by the end of the year, and go live in January 2025. The center will have to pay $15,074 when the center goes live.
Ms. Smith reported the annual audit is coming to a close. She also reported that the call volume for October was 1,871. Lastly she reported that Quick Books has been fixed to track sick, vacation and accruals for all personnel.
Present at the meeting were Jeffree Lee, Sr. , chairman, Ms. Bennett, Ms. Westbrook, Sheriff Donnie Pope, Dee Hawkins-Garland and Ronnie Payne.
