Coffee Shop Helps Needy Family

The Daily Roast Coffee and Donut Shop, in partnership with Cory McMichael and Rachel Collins, is organizing a donation drive to help a needy family this Christmas.

Mr. McMichael, the Citizen of the Year, and co-founder of MKR Monticello Kart Racing is often active in charity events. Ms. Collins is a new manager at Jack’s Restaurant who has rapidly become active in trying help those in need.

Every Tuesday the Daily Roast will take part of the profits and donate it to a needy family in the community. There will also be free food coupons from Jack’s for those who purchase items and/or make a monetary donation on Tuesdays at the Daily Roast.

If you’d like to spread the word, you could share details about how people can contribute—whether by visiting the donut shop or making direct donations at the shop, to ensure the success of this community-driven effort. It’s a heartwarming example of local businesses coming together to make a difference in someone’s life during the holiday season.

Supporting initiatives like the one at The Daily Roast Coffee and Donut Shop, Cory and Rachel, feel its a wonderful way to live out that spirit of giving, offering hope and joy to those who need it most. It truly embodies the essence of the season—bringing light to others in meaningful ways.

The owners of The Daily Roast Coffee and Donut Shop, Misty Dykes and Joseph Little, truly understand the pain and struggle of not having anything, especially during the holiday season. Having experienced the hardship of losing everything in a house fire, November 20, 2022, they are acutely aware of the emotional toll that can take, particularly when it feels like the world is celebrating and you’re left without the basics.

Their actions are a powerful example of how, even in the face of hardship, one can choose to uplift others. It’s a true testament to the spirit of generosity and compassion. By partnering with Cory and Rachel, they are showing that, even after suffering a significant loss, they have found a way to give back and make a positive difference in the lives of others.

Their decision to give back is so powerful because they know firsthand what it’s like to face adversity, and they are using their experience to make sure others don’t have to go through it alone. It’s a beautiful act of empathy and kindness—one that speaks to the heart of what the Christmas season is all about: love, compassion, and helping others in their time of need.

By reaching out to help those who may be struggling, they’re not just offering material support, but also a sense of hope and solidarity. These efforts can make a real difference in someone’s life, reminding everyone that, no matter how tough things get, there is always a chance for healing, support, and community.

“Just as Christ gave everything for us, we are called to give to those in need, not just during Christmas, but throughout the year, say Mr. McMichael and Ms. Collins. “The Christmas season, however, often serves as a reminder to extend kindness, compassion, and generosity to others, especially those who may be struggling. Acts of kindness, big or small, have a profound impact and can make a world of difference in someone’s life.
