Mat Cougars Excelling This Season

Piedmont Academy’s varsity wrestlers had a second-place showing at the Smackdown in Mactown hosted by Mount de Sales.

The Mat Cougars were second overall as a team earning 215 points with nine wrestlers competing. Coach Nick Meadows had five wrestlers win their respective weight class.

Helping lead Piedmont were:

•Austin Anglin, 113, runner-up

•Scott Swann, 132, champion

•Caleb Benton, 144, champion

•Colt Leddon, 150, champion

•Jamus Wingate, 165, champion

•Noah Doolittle, 175, champion

•Dylan Brimberry, 190, fourth place

•Braxton Floyd, 215, third place

Piedmont also had a strong showing at the recent Putnam County Battle in the Briar Patch event.
