Senior J. Stewart Chosen for All-State
Congratulations are due to senior running back Jalen Stewart of the Monticello High School Hurricanes as he was recently selected by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution to the Class A, Division 1 All-State team as an Honorable Mention Running Back.
Stewart finished the 2024 season for the 8-4 Hurricanes with 1,374 yards on 181 carries for a 7.6 yard per carry average and 13 touchdowns. He had eight games this season with over 100 yards, and finished his career as a Hurricane with 2,633 yards on 358 carries with an astounding 7.4 average yards per carry for his career along with 21 touchdowns.
Stewart also had 20 receptions for 220 yards for his career, giving him 2,853 yards of total offense in what amounts to three seasons as a starting running back for the Hurricanes.
Jalen is currently receiving interest from state junior colleges Andrew College in Cuthbert, Georgia Military in Milledgeville, and Central Georgia Tech in Macon. Jalen is the 90th selection from Monticello to the Atlanta newspaper’s annual All-State list, which began in 1948.
Jalen is the son of Adrian and Tara Stewart of Monticello.
