Solita Sullan Evans
Solita Sullan Evans, of Monticello, passed away on February 9, following a prolonged illness.
Born on February 4, 1951, in Davao City, Philippines, Solita was the fifth of 10 siblings. She pursued her studies at the University of Mindanao before earning her Bachelor’s of Nursing from San Pedro College. After gaining experience at Makati Medical Center in Manila, she relocated to Eatonton, Ga. in 1977, part of the significant influx of Filipino nurses to the United States.
A nearly 10-year survivor of a liver transplant, Solita was celebrated for her cooking skills, her gardening, and her vibrant personality.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ramon and Milagros Sullan; her sisters, Corales and Minerva; her brothers, Victor and Rafael; and her devoted husband of 43 years, Les Evans.
Solita is survived by her daughters, Elysha Strickland (Chad) and April-Lesley Evans (Jimmy) her “Apo”, Brantley Ward; her sisters, Elvira, Ramonita, and Melissa; her brothers, Ramon and Benjamin; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2025 at 1:00PM at Jordan Funeral Home in Monticello. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service.
