Cougars Open Season With Win

It has been “so far, so good” for the Piedmont Academy varsity baseball.

The Cougars (1-0) opened the 2025 campaign with a convincing 10-0 win against Central Fellowship Christian last Friday at home.

Piedmont jumped out to an 8-0 lead after the third inning and never looked back. Cougar pitching allowed just one hit and the defense had just one error in the first game of the season.

“It was a great start,” Coach Casey Moody said.

Senior Ethan Barman helped lead the offense with a 2-for-3 performance with a homer. double, run scored and four RBI. Senior Bradyn Ross was 2-for-3 with two runs.

Also contributing at the plate were Zach Simmons (1-for-2, two runs), Mason Tumlin (1-for-2, one run), Alex Statham (1-for-2, one run, one RBI), Tyler Griswell (1-for-1), Jayden Linter (RBI) and Jack Adams (1-for-3, one triple, two runs).

Junior Nick Gervasio earned the win going all five innings with 10 strikeouts.

On the bases, Tumlin and Statham both had a stolen base.

Piedmont also took advantage of five Central Fellowship errors.
