Kelly Ivey Gets Continuance
Kelly Garret Ivey, in Jasper County Sheriff Office’s custody, will have to wait a little longer for his day in Jasper Superior Court.
Mr. Ivey has been charged with cruelty to children in the first degree, two counts of trafficking for sexual servitude, and eight counts of criminal attempt to commit a felony. The defendant has been charged and arraigned on like charges in two other counties, thus far. His case was continued Tuesday as his lawyer was not in court due to a lack of proper notice about his clients’ arraignment as a result of some court changes.
Judge Amanda Petty presided over a light criminal court docket that included the following:
•Ryan Travis Sutton, in custody appearing for a JAG probation violation with a new offense of battery and possession of methamphetamine, was sentenced to 50 days in jail and credited with time served.
•Shawtavies Renfroe, in custody appearing for a JAG probation violation with a discharge of firearm near public highway charge. He was sentenced to eight days in jail with credit for time served.
