PA Competes at Region Track

Piedmont Academy’s track athletes traveled to First Presbyterian Day in Macon last week for the GIAA AAA Region 6 championships.

Emily Whitwell earned fourth for the Lady Cougars in the long jump at 13-6. Whitwell also finished fifth in the 200-meter dash in 29.98.

Other top performers for the Piedmont girls included:

•Ella Parker, sixth place, shot put, 24-5

•Parker, eighth place, discus, 62-0

•Whitwell, ninth place, 100-meter dash, 14.22

•Peyton Whitfield, ninth place, 200-meter dash, 32.83

•Whitfield, 10th place, 400-meter dash, 1:16.69

•Julianna Castleman, 11th place, 400-meter dash, 1:17.86

•Whitfield, 11th place, 100-meter dash, 14.67

Kohen Burrell was seventh for the Piedmont boys in the 1,600-meter run in 5:50.81.

Kouper Burrell was ninth in the 200-meter dash (26.87) and the 400-meter dash (59.86). Kohen Burrell was ninth in the long jump with a mark of 17-4.5.

Other top finishers for the Cougars included:

•Kohen Burrell, 10th place, 100-meter dash, 12.79

•Aaron Smith, 10th place, 200-meter dash, 33.50

•Weston Webb, 10th place, 1,600-meter run, 6:38.20

•Jake Pope, 11th place, shot put, 30-9

•Braxton Floyd, 11th place, discus, 78-2

•Camden Moss, 11th place, 12.83

•Smith, 12th place, 400-meter dash, 1:06.60

•Nash Thomson, 12th place, shot put, 24-2.5

Schools competing included Piedmont, FPD, Mount de Sales, Stratford Academy and Tattnall Square Academy.
