Eunice Thomas Smith

“The days of our lives are seventy years; and if by reason of strength they are eighty years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.” Psalm 90:10

And A Time To Die

On Friday, March 21, 2025, Eunice Thomas Smith took a journey we all must take, and each must go alone. It’s all part of the master plan, a step on the road to home. God sent his angels to take her by the hands and she peacefully answered the call.

Eunice was born on October 27, 1942, to the late Richard Thomas, Sr. and the late Everlena Lawson Thomas. Eunice grew up in Putnam County. The ‘baby’ of the family, Eunice was the youngest of eight siblings. She was preceded in death by brothers Walker Thomas, Millard Thomas, Richmond Thomas Jr., and Joe Louis Thomas, and sisters Dorothy Mae Ammons and Alma Willis, all of Monticello,

A Time To Live

Eunice was a dedicated factory worker and worked for over 30 years at Wellington Puritan Mills. After retiring she helped to care for her parents. She loved her children, grandboys, and family and friends. She also enjoyed watching wrestling, NBA basketball, listening to gospel music, and listening to preaching. She loved cooking (especially hen and dressing) and fishing.

A Time To Serve

She was a pillar of strength for her children and grandkids. She served the Lord until her health began to fail. Even after she was homebound she still worshipped the Lord at home. She joined Brown Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Eatonton, at a young age. After moving to Jasper County she joined Shady Grove Baptist Church, where she served as one of the Mothers of the Church.

A Time to Love

Eunice was united in holy matrimony to Albert Smith in 1960, and to that union six children were born. Two daughters: Arlene Smith Stone and Trudy Maria Smith, preceded her in death

A Time to Mourn

She leaves a legacy of memories to her daughters, Deborah Ann Bishop, Gwendolyn Hill, and Glenda Faye Smith; a son, Keith Smith; seven grandsons, LaRobb Stone, Desmond James, Anthony Smith, Alex Smith, Justin Smith, Kedarius Hill, and Chance Hill; a sister, Regina Gotel; two son-in-laws: Donald Hill and Robert Stone; two sister-in-laws: Annie Lee Thomas and Erica Smith.

Eunice was a strong presence in the lives of her nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, will be greatly missed.

Smith & Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
