Public Facilities Authority Meets

By KATHY MUDD

Members of the Jasper County Public Facilities Authority (PFA) elected officers at their regular meeting Tuesday evening at the Jasper County Courthouse.

The group met in the small courtroom upstairs, as the Board of Elections and Registration was meeting in the commissioners’ meeting room downstairs.

David McKenna was named chairman, and Bruce Henry was named vice-chairman. Howard Fore will continue to serve as treasurer and Bill Nash will remain secretary.

Mr. Nash brought it to the attention of the board that they are supposed to be completing an Annual Authority Registration and Financial Report (AARF). Mr. Nash printed what he found on the website, and found that not only is the PFA not in compliance, but neither are several other authorities.

County Manager Mike Benton was at the meeting, and agreed to look into it and come back and let the board know if it is something county staff can handle.

The group agreed to change its meeting date to the fourth Tuesday quarterly, so the next meeting will be July 22.
