Hurricanes Second in Region, Will Host First Round of State

The Jasper County Boys Soccer team clenched second in the region this season out of six teams in the 1A D1 Area 4. They fell to #1 team, Lamar County.

The Canes finished their region play with a 7-3 record, losing twice to Lamar, and once to Putnam. Putnam took third place, Towers was fourth, Social Circle was fifth, and Utopian Academy for the Arts placed sixth. By placing second in the region, the Canes secured the right to host round one of the state playoffs, which has only happened one time before in 2021 under the leadership of Justin Lesuer.

Round one of the state playoffs will take place at Jasper County High School on Friday, April 25 at 6 p.m. Coaches and players are urging all community members who are able, to attend the game. Tickets can be purchased in advance through GoFan.com.

The Canes ended their last two region games with a 3-0 loss to Lamar, followed by a 4-1 win to Towers. The Canes unfortunately lost in overtime penalty kicks to Upson-Lee last week, after ending the regular play 80-minutes with a 0-0 game. The final score against 3A Upson-Lee was 1-0 Upson.

Please come out and cheer for the Hurricanes in the state playoffs!
