Thomas Persons Hall Plans Busy Year

Jasper County Historical Foundation (JCHF) has announced fall events at Thomas Persons Hall (TPH).

August will begin with open registration for the Deer Festival Scholarship Pageant to be held prior to the Deer Festival.

In September, the quarterly JCHF Bridge Luncheon kicks off the month on Wednesday, Sept. 4, combining table games with a homestyle luncheon.

This same week, JCHF welcomes Matt Chastain, Jasper County native, and his band, “MixTape” to the TPH auditorium on Friday, Sept. 6 at 7 p.m.

The exciting sound of this group brings 90’s rock-n-roll music to the delight of concert attendees. “MixTape” is filling up venues across Georgia so Monticello get ready, said the JCHF announcement.

Thursday, Sept. 12 is the JCHF membership Fall educational program featuring Daniel Jefferies’s program on historic clocks, etc.

Saturday, Sept. 28, JCHF welcomes back to the stage, Vintage Vixens, a rockin’ group of ladies that bring 60’s & 70’s music. This band will have an opening band, “Reminisce”, with its Motown old school R & B and funk style. JCHF announces the date for the Deer Festival Scholarship Pageant – October 20. This year will introduce a new category of Deer Festival Junior Queen, welcoming middle school age students to compete for trophies and crowns.

Another update is that Little Miss Fawn contestants will have a separate show at 1:30pm and all other contestants will have a combined show at 5:30pm. The pageant builds to the ultimate show at the Jasper County Deer Festival on November 2 when the Queen is crowned!

TPH events continue with the last JCHF membership educational program on Thursday, Nov. 14. The speaker is Robert Jordan, JCHF board member and local surveyor. His program will feature historic maps. The 2024 year will end with the final JCHF Bridge Luncheon on Wednesday, Dec. 4.
