Free Meals Available To Local Children

The Black Lotus Project Inc. has announced it has added a location where it will serve meals to Jasper County youth. In addition to the current locations—Springfield Baptist Church and the Jasper County Library, meals are now available at Bethlehem Baptist Church at 6479 Jackson Lake Road, Monticello from 11 a.m. to noon.

The times for the other locations include 3:30-4:30 p.m. at Springfield Baptist Church, 837 Hillsboro St.; from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at the Jasper County Library, 319 East Greene St., All times are Mondays and Thursdays.

The Summer Food Service Program provides meals to all children, ages 0-18, without charge.

The addition of Bethlehem Baptist Church makes it easier for children on that end of the county to participate.

Children receive groceries for four meals on Mondays and for three meals on Thursdays.

Acceptance and participation requirements for the program and all activities are the same for all, regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability. There will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service.
