Dog Is Rescued
Last month, firefighters responded to an alarm at a home on Jackson Lake Road. Before arrival they learned there was smoke in the house and upon arrival learned that there was a dog trapped in the house. Neighbors had coaxed the dog to no avail. When firefighters arrived, they went to work, and one of them, Shawn Holmes, went in the home and rescued the dog who was hiding under the bed in fear.
Firefighter Holmes had to further break the window pane and he found the dog under the bed. He ran away when he first saw the firefighter in all his turnout gear, but the dog finally came to him, panting furiously. The firefighter and dog exited the home through the front door. Mr. Holmes said he didn’t look like a human in all his gear, and the dog couldn’t smell him. He figured if the dog bit him, his turnout gear would protect him. He said he was expecting a chihuahua. He said the dog was very happy to get out.
