Haley Frank To Play College Softball

Haley Ann Frank played a key role in Piedmont Academy’s fast-pitch softball team becoming the best in its classification.

Now Frank is set to continue her academic and athletic careers beyond her high school days. The senior recently signed to play for Auburn University at Montgomery. Frank helped guide the Lady Cougars to two state softball championships during her career.

“I chose AUM not only for its amazing athletics but also academics,” Frank said. “They have a great program as I look at becoming a speech therapist. I am excited to get the opportunity to excel in my academic aspect of college but also get to play college softball at the next level.”

The senior said she will always be thankful for the family-type atmosphere at Piedmont. Frank has attended the school her entire academic career.

“Everyone always comes out to support our sports teams including the teachers,” she said. “Piedmont has prepared me for the next chapter in my life whether it has been in the classroom or on the field. It has given me the opportunity to play multiple sports and to become a more well-rounded athlete. I cannot thank the people who helped me along the way enough. I will use my time at Piedmont to learn and grow into a stronger individual. As my time at Piedmont has ended and a new chapter awaits. For, it is time to say ‘Go Warhawks’ but I will forever say ‘Go Cougars.’”

During her senior season on the softball field, Frank batted. 656 with an on-base percentage of .722. She scored 51 runs and drove in 12.

“We are extremely excited for Haley Ann,” Lady Cougars coach Joe Johnson said. “She was without a doubt our most consistent player in the box this season. She is a hard working and very motivated player and certainly the most competitive player I have ever coached.”

Piedmont’s coach said Frank’s leadership skills are “second to none.”

“They are getting a great player and one we are really going to miss at Piedmont.”
