Historical Foundation Meeting Set

Jasper County Historical Foundation (JCHF) invites the public to its 2021 “Kickoff Event” in the auditorium of Thomas Persons Hall.

The event will begin with a brief business and presentation session for JCHF and followed by the featured event with speaker, Nathan Jordan from the National Archives at Atlanta. This will be the first educational program in the 2021 series for JCHF and will occur on Thursday, May 20, at 7 p.m.

Mr. Jordan is an archivist at the National Archives in Atlanta, where he has worked for more than 11 years. His role at the archives includes managing reference services and maintaining the federal government’s historically significant records.

One of Mr. Jordan’s recent projects was curating an exhibit at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport on behalf of the Georgia World War One Centennial Commission. Prior to working for the National Archives, Mr. Jordan served as an officer in the U.S. Army, completing deployments to the Middle East, Central America, and Afghanistan.

Mr. Jordan graduated from Jasper County High School, has a bachelor’s degree in history from the United States Military Academy at West Point, and a Master’s Degree in Public History from Georgia State University.

“Come learn of the historic and invaluable documents housed at the National Archives and how Jasper County native, Nathan Jordan, helps to preserve these for research. The event will be held at Thomas Persons Hall, 319 College St. in Monticello. The program is free to attend.
