Ana Arizmendi— From Texas to Georgia

The fresh new face that greets you at the front desk at Jasper County High School is that of Ana Arizmendi.

The daughter, sister, wife, and mother of three began the duties of front desk secretary in October 2018…and she absolutely loves it.!

“I love being able to help the students, parents, and administrators—making their day better,” said Ana.

As the first personality you may encounter at the school, Ana exudes glee, congenialnesss and approachability. Prior to taking the position at JCHS, she worked at Washington Park Elementary School as a cafeteria aid.

Ana, her husband Robert, and kids Lizzet, 14, Robert, 12, and Itzel, 10 moved to Jasper County a little over two years ago from Gwinnett County.

In search of a lifestyle change, the Arizmendi’s sought a place to raise their family where they could have more space. So they began seeking places with land for sale and ended up in Jasper not knowing about anything or anyone here.

They have grown to love it here and Robert’s commute to work in Conyers at a lumber company suits him better than living in Gwinnett, said his wife. Ana also noted that surprisingly the kids like it here better, too.

Anna is a native of Brownsville, Texas which is located next to the Mexican border. It is where her Mexican-born father and Texas-born mother met and raised their two daughters and four sons. It is also the place where Ana and her husband met in high school. Some years into their betrothal, Ana and Robert decided to leave Texas. Again not knowing anyone in Georgia, they decided to visit Gwinnett County where they liked upon arrival and ended up staying. Since that time, two of her brothers have relocated to Georgia and her mother lived with the family for some years until Ana’s grandmother in Texas began to have health issues and needed aid.

During the time she lived in Gwinnett, Ana honed the skills that made her suitable for her current job. When her children were younger, she worked as a cafeteria aid in their school which was perfect giving her the same schedule as her kids. While working for the school, Ana went to school to obtain her clerical certification from Pro Data but refrained from seeking administrative work as Itzel was not yet school-aged.

In her spare time, which she admits is sparse with a full-time job, husband, and three kids, Ana likes to bake but she admittedly does less of it now than before because she realized that her family wasn’t eating as much of it which left her to eat the remainder.

When not baking, Ana just generally likes to have fun and show her outgoing personality.

Ana admits with her new job that “I may not always have the answer to certain questions at that moment but I will eventually get the answers needed. At the end of the day my goal is to help everyone with their needs.”
