Everyone Is Encouraged To Shop Local

The Monticello-Jasper County Chamber of Commerce (COC) is encouraging everyone to shop local, and giving incentives, too.

“Each time you shop local in Jasper County through Tuesday, Dec. 23, you can submit a copy of your receipt to the Chamber of Commerce to win a tree filled with items donated from local merchants and businesses in Jasper County,” said the announcement from the COC.

Shoppers just go to the COC office, fill out a short form, and staple your receipt or a copy to it and they will be in a drawing to win prizes donated by local merchants. It’s easy and fun.

The COC office is located at 119 West Washington Street in Monticello, adjacent to Monticello City Hall.

In addition, the COC is sponsoring telephone calls from Santa Claus. Anyone who would like to have “Santa” call their child is asked to stop by the COC and fill out a form with the child’s name and other details. Santa will be calling Tuesday-Thursday, Dec. 16-18, between 6 and 8 p.m.
