Acting Editor
If you are very attentive to this newspaper, or you are simply a fan of Kathy Mudd, you may have noticed or I will point out that she has nothing with her byline (a written by credit line) on it in this issue.
This is because she has been out of town since our last issue was headed to be printed last Wednesday afternoon.
She and my Stepdaddy, as Kathy is my mom for those of you readers that didn’t already know, take a trip each February around this time as my G-mom’s birthday was Monday, Feb. 18.
With Kathy out of the office, I have been chosen to fill her shoes in playing “acting editor,” for the week. This is a position that I do not take lightly but do not wish to have more often than once a year.
You see, I am easy going and very indecisive typically, making the decisions for what to print in this weekly publication difficult. I am not convinced that I should be the deciding factor as to what our diverse population of readers would like to see printed.
So as a result, I did-or will do my best, as I am typing this at after 10 p.m. Tuesday, when I should be focused on the four hour county commission meeting I just left.
I suppose I am writing this column as a sort of way to ask forgiveness of my readers and for all of you too feel free to overlook the smallest errors that I might have overlooked this week.
I also ask all of our readers for feedback on what they like and dislike about our weekly contribution to Monticello and Jasper County.
As acting editor, I hope that you enjoy this edition of your News, as we have gotten nothing but positive feedback when polling callers about our mystery pictures.
Who’d a thought that a T-shirt would generate more calls than any other promo this year.
Also, as a sidenote-the photo contest results should be finished soon, as Mr. Phillip Jordan is setting a date for the awards reception in the very near future.
We get numerous calls about this as well. Don’t worry, you didn’t miss the notice and your photos will be able to be picked up as soon as the reception is over.
With that, I leave you for this week. Again, thank you all for not being too critical. As I am an amateur at this…
Oh yeah, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY, G-MOM!!! I LOVE YOU!
