The Start of a New Year

Well, here it is. The start of a new year…2015.

It’s funny that I just asked someone this week what the date was (being that Christmas was in the middle of the week, I was confused about the date) and when she answered, I said, “wow, wasn’t it just July.”

I have been slack on these columns for the last six months or so, as I have been super busy with my three part-time jobs and one super, fun boyfriend.

As I look back on 2014, as fast as it flew by, I can reflect on what a great year it’s been. I have been blessed with good health, wellness and employment for which I am not always thankful enough.

I have found that (now being in my 30’s) I want different things out of life. I have great friends though the actual number of friends has decreased. I have a wonderful family that supports me and the decisions I make.

I have made monthly efforts to get out of debt, and that in itself can be overwhelming.

I hope that 2015 will be as good or better than this year was. I believe that everyone hopes that, and that you are responsible for making that happen in life.

I am hopeful for what this year brings as I have a wellness goal, and I am still going to hammer away at that debt that I have incurred over the years.

I am looking to find employment either full time or at least let go of one part time job. I have learned that whether or not we have “enough” money that time is always what I seem to have the least of, and stretching myself thin every week has got to change.

I hope to make some firm decisions over the next year about a number of things. This will be a feat in itself as I am extremely indecisive.

I hope to travel a little bit more and a tad bit farther in that extra time that I am carving out. I traveled a lot in the past and loved seeing other cultures along with architecture that makes happy and curious to learn more about places outside of everyday.

I have already done some things that were outside of my comfort zone in 2014. I took a bi-plane ride over Atlanta, I visited three countries that were unknown to me, I have let go of what I know and been subjected to foreign foods, and ways of life, I took kids to Disney World, where I had previously worked and saw the magic through their eyes.

I have had a wonderful year. And as my Mama always said the older I get the faster time flies by.

In 2015 I look to be better. I seek to be positive, and to have more patience.

I think that “New Year’s Resolutions,” are oftentimes short term goals that people expect to begin doing but never actually expect to succeed in doing long term. Therefore, this year, 2015 I declare will be one of my better years. I will not make a resolution to do things differently or better in 2015. I will continue to do things that I believe I have begun in 2014.

I wish all of you a blessed new year, and much adventure in 2015.
