Thankful Thoughts

Well, here we are and Thanksgiving week is already upon us for the 2012 year. As did other writers this week, I am going to use this space to say some of the things for which I am thankful. And, here goes:

•I am thankful to wake up every morning. To have a roof over my head, a warm bed and an old cold home.

•For having two jobs that support me, earning a decent wage that is based on merit not on relation to the owners.

•For family that I see each day, and for family that I hear from each week, and the rest that I see in the grocery store and are still interested in what I am doing. And for my far away extended family.

•For my mom who’s a fearless leader, the woman that I want to be, that is tough as nails and has a backbone to stand for what’s right (and she’s truly passionate about the well-being of this town)

•For a sister that I love to fight with, and love to hear on the phone—even if its an ‘Emily” story.

•For a wonderful, amazing man that I call ‘stepdaddy.’ Thanks, mom for him. I couldn’t ask for more

•For an aunt that I call a best friend. She’s still the coolest of them all and I love that we have so much in common and enjoy each other’s company…and for her husband and kids…I am so lucky to have them (and love that they’re neighbors too!)

•For stepdaddy’s family. The only G-mom I have left, and an aunt and uncle so close by.

•I am thankful for my best friends. There are too many to list here, but from them I have comfort, laughter, God children, Sunday Funday, coffee dates, a shoulder to cry on, some to look forward to seeing (just on Fridays and Saturdays).

•I am thankful for ‘regulars’ at the job that have become more than that.

•I am thankful for old friends that have come back into my life, reassuring me that they were meant to be there in the first place.

•I am thankful for the positive outlook I have on most things.

•I am thankful for food and the socialization that comes with it.

•I am thankful for the ability to have good writing skills that get me where I want to be in life.

•I am thankful that I have no needs, that I am healthy, and that I feel like I make a difference in other’s lives.

•I am thankful for that little dog, my Roxi girl, that I have waiting on me when I walk through the door. It’s amazing the devotion and love that she has for me.

•Most of all I am thankful for being saved and for knowing that there is more to this life and world that I may never understand or be able to fully explain.

Take today to be thankful during the time of year that seems appropriate. But don’t forget to be thankful in all of the other months too.

Writing that I am thankful here may or may not get read, so I made a goal to thank each of the people that I value in my life personally.

You nor I ever know how the slightest gesture will affect someone.

During this time, remember to be thankful, say a prayer and for those lucky enough to have some time off, put away the gadgets and spend some quality time with those that mean the most.

Enjoy the ‘hustle and bustle’ of the holiday season that is upon us, but don’t forget in all of the hurry that time for yourself is pertinent.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!! Enjoy your day 🙂
