Friendship
Life has a funny way of putting people from your past back into your life, without any notice whatsoever.
I have thought about this a lot with the comings and goings of so many constantly changing interactions with people that I have known for years and people that I consider “friends” even though we don’t have the history.
I am lucky to have amazing friends. I have family that are friends too, I have a best ‘buddy’ which I only met six years ago, but I feel as if we could’ve grown up together. She has blessed me with not only enduring companionship but with her husband becoming a best friend to me too, and not to mention those two absolutely adorable God babies, Maddie Grace and Lex.
I have another friend who I have know since the beginning of time. He and I grew up together and have been both close and far. Funny, he and I have gotten closer again recently as I began a new job on the weekends closer to where he lives.
I have another friend that I’ve known at least since kindergarten. She is awesome, and we have lunch about once a week. We were just talking Monday about how I’m going to take time out for me, more…and that would include more time with her and her family as I always get an invite, but never seem to make it to anything…that has to change.
I have friends that I thought were so close in high school. We vacationed together, had 100s of fond memories, but as I realized just last week, haven’t talked in more than 10 years.
Ten years…that seemed like an eternity in my senior year of high school. Here I sit wondering where the time went.
Fortunately, I was able to reconnect with three of those friends under an unfortunate circumstance last week.
I found myself at yet another funeral (which if you read my column about that you know that I think they are a part of life and usually feel better after I leave).
It was a sad time, but in the midst of the out of town visit I got to see those three friends in a more relaxed atmosphere over the weekend and IT WAS GREAT!!
I felt like the four of us picked up right where we left off those 10+/- years ago. It was as if we hadn’t missed a beat and we picked up right where we left off.
We laughed, reminisced, and compared stories of what we’d been doing lately. It made my weekend 100 times better and I just bet it made theirs too!
I just want to thank Ben, Alan, Daniel and Sean…it was a blast and I can’t wait to see ya’ll again.
