Piedmont Names New Headmaster

Dr. Michael A. Rossi will take the reins as headmaster at Piedmont Academy beginning July 1, and he and his family plan to move here by that time.

Dr. Rossi will fill the vacancy left by the resignation of James “Chip” Champion.

“Throughout several interviews and discussions over resumes, the Board of Trustees agreed that Dr. Rossi is the best person to fill the position of headmaster and lead the faculty, staff, and students in helping Piedmont fulfill its potential,” said the announcement to Piedmont parents and faculty.

Dr. Rossi is coming from North Broward Preparatory School, near Fort Lauderdale, Fla., where he served as headmaster.

He has extensive experience in teaching, school leadership, curriculum, and financial management, the school’s announcement said.

” His job history and letters from several schools reflects many of the changes Piedmont is facing such as growth decisions, curriculum changes, aging buildings and grounds, accreditation, and so forth. He has already begun working with the faculty and staff at Piedmont to create a smooth transition,” the announcement said.

Dr. Rossi and his wife, Kris, have three children, Michaela (5th grade), Kristina (3rd grade), and Christopher (K5).
