Thirteen Inducted into National Honor Society

Thirteen students were inducted into the National Honor Society on Monday. These members are the charter class of Piedmont Academy’s chapter.

Students in this organization must have an overall average of 90 or above in their core high school classes, make application to the society, and undergo faculty and staff interviews.

All new members recited the pledge to uphold the high purposes of the National Honor Society to which they had been selected. They promised to be true to the principles for which it stands.

They will strive to be at all times a model student and will never knowingly bring reproach upon their school, the pledge said. They will also maintain and encourage high standards of scholarship, service, leadership and character.

During the ceremony, the parents and students were inspired by the words of their keynote speaker, Cameron Shiflett. Mr. Shiflett is the executive and youth pastor of Rock Springs Congregational Methodist Church located in Milner.

Inductees included Emily Beck-ham, daughter of Danny and Susan Beckham of Monticello; Brittany Binowski, daughter of Gary and Sharon Binowski of Conyers; Justin Brown, son of Kerry and Donna Brown of Covington; Tony Deleza, son of Jerry and Tracy Deleza of Monticello; Logan Gramzinski, son of Bill and Julie Gramzinski of Covington; Zac Hauther, son of Mike and Teri Hauther of Monticello.

Also, Taylor Jackson, son of Ken and Susan Jackson of Monticello; Bryn McDermott, daughter of Tony and Pam McDermott of Covington; Blake McMichael, son of Robert and Sarah McMichael of Monti-cello; Mary Beth O’Brien, daughter of Ed and Caren O’Brien of Covington; Randy Reagin, son of Randy and Monna Reagin of Newborn; Sarah Wagnon, daughter of Vic and Lori Wagnon of Covington; and Nicole Wilson, daughter of Missy and John Braden of Monticello and the late Jim Wilson.

Faculty council members for the society are Missy Braden, Kenny Roberts, Bobbi Sauls and Misty Smith.

After the ceremony, a reception followed for the students, parents, and faculty.
