School Superintendent Earns Satisfactory Rating

Jasper County School System Superintendent Jay Brinson has been awarded a satisfactory rating as a result of his annual evaluation from the Board of Education.

Chairman Phyllis Norwood, vice chairman Joel Gaston, Joy Wild, and Paul Kelly convened Monday afternoon for a luncheon session to conduct the evaluation according to state recommendations.
Board member Stacey Standifer is still recuperating in a rehabilitation facility.

An evaluation is held annually to survey the superintendent’s performance dispersed through six general categories: board relations, community relations, staff and personnel relations, business and finance, educational leadership, and personal quality.

Board members individually responded to questions in each of those categories by selecting a rating of commendable, satisfactory, and unsatisfactory. The responses were then reviewed and compiled into one rating for each category.
Supt. Brinson did not receive any unsatisfactory ratings.

With regard to board relations, Supt. Brinson was given a commendable rating; community relations earned a satisfactory rating; staff and personnel relations earned a satisfactory rating; business and finance earned a commendable rating; educational leadership earned a satisfactory rating; and personal quality earned a commendable rating.

The average of the categorical ratings resulted in an overall rating of satisfactory.
