Tax Assessor Gerald Bramblett Resigns
And then there was one…
Currently one sole certified tax assessor remains on the Jasper County Board of Assessors. Vice chairman Gerald Bramblett followed the lead of former chairman James Harrell by also submitting his resignation last Thursday.
With the chairman’s resignation submitted last Wednesday and the vice chairman’s resignation submitted the following day, Cathy Benson is the sole certified assessor.
“It’s all up to the county commission at this point,” said Mrs. Benson in consideration of recent events surrounding the assessors.
If the five member board is to remain as such, county commissioners will need to appoint several replacements—possibly as many as four if David Kelly submits an official resignation and the certification score for Linda Tinsley is not favorable.
The county commission will also need to make an appointment to Jasper County Water & Sewer Authority in light of another resignation submitted last Thursday. Allen Platt, a retired engineer who was one of three most recent appointments to the authority, resigned his position for personal reasons.
“He is a true gentleman and was a welcome addition to the authority. We will miss his wisdom,” said JCWSA chairman Tom Brazil.
