Middle School Chorus Is ‘Superior’

The Jasper County middle school chorus received a “superior” performance rating for both performance and sight reading at the 2005 District Four Large Group Performance Evaluations.

“Superior” is the top rating a chorus can receive.
The event was held at Miller Grove High School in Lithonia. It featured choral performances by groups from Dekalb, Butts, Rockdale, Newton, and Jasper counties.

The Jasper County Middle School Chorus, under the direction of Will Schmidt and accompanied by Les Steele performed two selections: “God of Grace and God of Small” by Natalie Sleeth and “Sing a Jubilant Song” by Dave and Jean Perry.

Mr. Schmidt said, “The Jasper County Middle School Chorus deserves the praise of our community for their outstanding performance. Their musical selections were performed with outstanding technique and a vitality that comes from concentrated effort during both performance and practice.

“I will really miss teaching these young people next year and I look forward to hearing future reports of their musical pursuits.”
