Piedmont Starts Today; Public School on Monday

Students were to begin classes today, August 6, at Piedmont Academy, and students will return to classes at Jasper County Public Schools Monday, Aug. 10.

Open houses at the public schools are planned for tomorrow, Aug. 7. Students and parents may visit Jasper County Preschool (706-468-4972), Jasper County Primary School (706-468-4968), and Washington Park School (706-468-6284), all on Hwy. 212 west of the Monticello Square, from 1:30-3:30 p.m.
Jasper County Middle School (706-468-2227) on Post Road and Jasper County High School (706-468-5016) at 14477 Hwy, 11 north will have open house from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.

The Jasper County School System is staffed and ready for students. Several new teachers were welcomed on Wednesday, July 29 when they attended the annual day of orientation at Jasper County.

High School teachers learned about some important aspects of the county, including the system’s technology rules and resources, mandated child abuse reporting requirements, special education rules and procedures, and the Georgia Code of Ethics for Educators.

Photos and backgrounds of new teachers are scheduled to be published in next week’s Monticello News. Bus routes are in today’s paper, on pages 8-9; school supply lists and free and reduced lunch guidelines have previously been published.
