African American Influence

The Jasper County Historical Foundation’s members and supporters will gather at the Holy Nation Church in Hillsboro on Thursday, August 20 at 7 p.m. for their monthly meeting.

The history of the church and its influence in Jasper County centers on the focal point of the African American importance to Jasper County. Not only will they learn of the significance of the African American in the growth of Jasper County and the leadership offered by some often forgotten citizens but they will also see the influence that the African American community has added.

The addition of religious understanding and responsibility as brothers and sisters stands out as the Foundation recognizes the participation in education, politics, and local governance the African American community has made, and continues to make. Participation in all of the Jasper County Historical Foundation’s future and of Jasper County’s future depends on the hearts, minds, and feet of all of Jasper County’s citizens, the Foundation’s announcement said.
