Piedmont Introduces New Staff Members

Students returned to classes at Piedmont Academy last Thursday, and saw five new faces at the private school in Monticello.

Mrs. Betty Jean Jordan joins the administration at Piedmont taking over the responsibilities of chief financial officer. She holds a bachelor of civil engineering and masters of science in civil engineering from Georgia Tech.

In addition to managing the finances of the independent school, she will continue her coaching of MATHCOUNTS in the middle school and will serve as treasurer to the school’s booster club.

Rhett Farmer, a 13-year educator, holds a BS degree in Political Science from Georgia College and State University. He is certified in social studies grades six through 12 in Georgia. Mr. Farmer is a former history and football coach at Tattnall Square Academy in Macon. He is a product of an independent school education having graduated from John Milledge Academy.

Mr. Farmer will teach social studies courses this year at Piedmont and is well versed in differentiated instruction and the use of technology in the classroom having used Active Slate. To his credit, he has been named Coach of the Year in football and baseball.

David Perry joins the faculty teaching physical education and coaching varsity girls and boys basketball. He is a graduate of Bryan College holding a degree in history and secondary education. He earned his masters degree in sports administration from Georgia State University. Mr. Perry comes to Piedmont from Atlanta Christian College where he was the college’s assistant basketball coach. Besides teaching physical education, Mr. Perry will also teach a U.S. Relations class to high school students.

Mrs. Traci Brady will be joining the teaching staff this year, 16 years of teaching experience. She holds a BA from Georgia Southern and a masters in education from Georgia College and State University. In addition, she holds a “Highly Qualified Certification” and eight endorsements. She is a LD specialist and has a strong background in “Differentiated Instruction” and working with gifted students as well.

Mrs. Brady is a diagnostician and trained in administering various diagnostics tests including, among others, the Woodcock Johnson. She has worked as a teacher in Burke County, Jasper County, and Newton County. Mrs. Brady will teach students in kindergarten through fifth grade who are high functioning and/or gifted and need more challenge, as well as those who need remediation. She will also be working with all teachers assisting them in the classroom and differentiating instruction. She will assume the duties of teaching publications and will be responsible for the production of the school’s yearbook. As an added bonus, Mrs. Brady is a certified aerobics instructor.

Mrs. Jennifer Brown joins the faculty as a teacher’s assistant in the elementary grades. She is certified by the State of Georgia as a teacher in secondary education earning her bachelor’s degree from Clayton State University and her masters in foundations of education from Troy State University. Mrs. Brown brings two children to Piedmont’s enrollment.
