Fall…fall…fall…

Although the first day of fall is still 16 days away (it is September 22 this year), it feels like fall has begun for me.

What is better for fall then the opening weekend of college football! GO DAWGS!

Fall brings on the camaraderie (one of those dreaded spelling words…for a later column) college competition, friendly gambling, and hopes of cooler weather.

Labor day means fall for me. It also happened to coincide with my birthday this year, so I got a long weekend that was packed with sporting events.

I worked Friday, and my wonderful co-workers brought me a cake, presents, and a lot of balloons. If you happened to drive by the office and notice the party up front, that was for me 🙂

I also worked my weekend job, both Friday and Saturday nights. But between those shifts, I got the privilege of watching my beloved Georgia Bulldogs face Buffalo, and won.

It was an exciting game, a test of both our offense and star quarterback, Aaron Murray, and our defense where I heard that roughly 10 lineman were on the sidelines. Those defensive linemen struggled a bit in the first half, but got it together in the second aiding in a W for Georgia.

In the middle of the Georgia game, I was interrupted, for which I was grateful, as my Stepdaddy took me to the father-daughter Braves game at Turner Field.

We had a wonderful time, it was just he, my mama and me. And it was hot! But all in all a good time.

So after a busy day, I worked that night. And on the seventh day, I rested. Oh yes. On Sunday, I rested—that was until I got an invite from my aunt and uncle to Atlanta Motor Speedway. So I went.

I partied with thousands of my ‘closest’ friends at AMS and watched the race on Sunday night.

We hung out at the campground and had a wonderful time. It got late and at midnight I was given a honey bun ‘cake’ and had a quick birthday celebration. That celebration came with fireworks, and good times.

Once home in the wee hours of Monday (Labor Day) I rested for a while and was back at it. I celebrated with good friends, food and drinks, and concluded my birthday with GT vs. VT.

Whew…what a weekend.

As I was saying, fall has officially begun in my book for all of the reasons that were listed here.

I look forward to the end of this month with the cooler weather, leaves changing into magnificent colors of orange, yellow, and reds, and the continuation of all things football!
