Camp Registration Deadline Nears
The deadline to sign up for the Explorers Enrichment Camps is next Thursday, May 15.
“We have received several applications, and we look forward to working with the children!” said organizers.
Thanks to Jasper County Family Connection, There is $150 in scholarship funds available that may be split among scholarship applicants.
Explorers Enrichment Camp will provide two sessions this summer for curious and academically motivated 3rd-7th graders: an outdoors session, focusing on constructing a local field guide through study of wildlife, soils, aquatics, forestry and sustainable agriculture, and an arts session with the theme being “The Big Apple: New York, New York.”
The arts camp is planning on producing a scene from The Lion King, including puppetry and singing.
The outdoor session will take place during the week of June 23-27. Tyson Harty and Jehan El-Jourbagy will be the primary instructors, and there will be daily special guest experts. The camp will be held at 3558 Hwy. 212 East in Monticello and will involve multiple, hands-on activities.
The arts session will take place during the week of July 7-11. Topics will include New York theater, dance, art and music with a performance on Friday. This camp will be held at Thomas Persons Hall at 319 College Street.
The camps are limited to the first 12 students who apply for each camp. Applications should be submitted to The Snap’n Turtle on the Square by Thursday, May 15.
