Junior Deputy Law Enforcement Explorer Post Is Forming
The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office is organizing a Junior Deputy Law Enforcement Explorer Post for all interested young men and women.
An organizational meeting will be held Tuesday, June 30, at 7 p.m. at the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office located at 1551 Hwy. 212 West in Monticello.
Young men and women who are age 14 and have completed the eighth grade through 20 years of age are invited to participate. Parents are encouraged to attend with their students as Scouting is a family oriented program.
The purpose of this exploring program is to provide real world career experiences and develop critical skills necessary for success in college and a career in law enforcement. Another goal is to provide leadership development, character development, social and professional networking, and to give community service.
The post will meet weekly on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. and will provide hands-on career experience. Applications will be taken and processed according to the Boy Scouts of America guidelines, and Jasper County sheriff’s regulations. The cost to join is $25 for 6 months which includes registration and uniform shirt. Background screening will be completed for each member.
