Forward Jasper Learns about Company
Jacki Tyler, president of Tytek, Inc., talked about her business to a group at the Forward Jasper First Friday breakfast last Friday at the Visitors’ Center.
Mrs. Tyler said Tytek, Inc. is a utility construction company that she and her husband began in 2001. They work out of their home on Fellowship Road, and have contracts with AT&T, Ga. Power, and do a lot of private landowner work.
She said that her employees have the dream job for many little kids…they get to play in the dirt all the time. Mrs. Tyler is a member of the Greater Women’s Business Council, and the company is a certified Women’s Business Enterprise.
She said when she started out she got help from the Small Business Development Center in Athens, and that it was really a big help. The company currently has five employees, and it is a certified drug-free workplace, which performs annual employee background checks, participates in E-Verify, and the employees have their own Level 1A blue card certified by the Georgia Soil and Water Commission. Basically, whenever earth is moved, it is supposed to be done by someone with the blue card.
The company does erosion control work of all types, soil, water and erosion consulting, right-of-way mowing, clearing and maintenance, plowing an planting, wildlife food plots and management, gate and fence installations, culvert installations, concrete repair work, landscape maintenance services, and more.
