PirateFest Set April 29

Jasper County residents Diane Davis, Shirley Glover and Laura King have joined with Jackson Lake Association members from Butts and Newton counties to develop the 1st Annual Jackson Lake PirateFest.

Proceeds from the event, scheduled for Saturday, April 29 at Lloyd Shoals Park, will be used to promote boating and water safety in Jackson Lake and to provide free “loaner” life vests for children boating or playing at the lake.

PirateFest will provide a variety of “pirate activities” including a pirate wake boarding exhibition featuring nationally ranked wakeboarders, a pirate costume and pet parade, local food and children’s activities at Little Matey’s Beach. Arts & crafts vendors will be found in the Thieves Market and a Cardboard Boat Regatta, judging and sinking is expected to be a highlight of the afternoon.
