Expect Great Things
Psalm 30:5
When I attended Washington Park Elementary School (the old one off Funderburg Dr.), we would sing a song, “If you’re happy and you know it.”
The teacher would give us commands in the song and we would respond accordingly. If you’re happy and you know it clap your hands, stomp your feet…and so on. Every child was happy. But life has taught many of us that happiness is temporary, but joy is birthed even in adverse conditions.
2017 has dealt its share of adverse situations to many of you reading this article. Instead of going through the laundry list of what you’ve been through this year, allow me to just say this – you’ve been through too much not to have the joy you have! I don’t care how broke you may be, how many friends you’ve lost, how your condition looks…you survived and that’s enough.
Don’t you dare allow ANYONE to take away your joy. You’ve been through too much in 2017 to allow your joy to be siphoned away by negativity and negative people. Don’t allow their negativity to bring you down, allow your joy to lift them up!
Your tears are a testimony of your journey. Your scars and wounds remind you of your past and what you had to endure to get to this moment.
Christmas is behind you and you are staring at a brand New Year. As you stare at the possibilities, challenges and hopes of 2018, maintain your joy!
Dreams shall become reality this year! Promises will be manifested this year! This is the year where hopelessness, hurt, harm, and hate will die.
So, if you have joy and you know it…walk into 2018 with your head held high and expect great things to happen!
