The Underdog

One year after the biggest meltdown in Super Bowl history, at the hands of our beloved Atlanta Falcons, we can now say that Super Bowl 52 is in the history books.

I don’t know where you were or who you were rooting for on Sunday, but that game was a classic. It earned that coined description by pitting a known veteran team with experience on the big stage against a ruddy, hard-knuckled team from the lowly NFC East.

This was by all means a 21st Century match up of David vs. Goliath. In the bible, I Samuel 17 provides a vivid motion picture account of two opposites that meet on the battlefield. One has the experience of war, has been declared the undisputed and undefeated “champion.” But the other only has the experience of guarding his father’s sheep and protecting them at all costs. The major difference between these two is not a trophy, not the spoils of battle….no, not even something that you can see or touch. It’s this simple – David had the anointing.

You have not been drafted into the NFL. You have not signed a multi-million dollar contract. You have never put on pads and played in a regular season game. You have not played in the Super Bowl. But all of us have been in David’s shoes before. We know what it’s like to be the underdog. We know what it’s like to have the odds stacked against us. Why? The greater your purpose, the tougher your assignment!!

The opposition may have experience, they may have the trophies…but as long as you have the heart, the determination and the drive – You can achieve anything you set your mind out to do!

YOU ARE THE

CHAMPION!!

EVEN IF YOU ARE THE UNDERDOG! BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!
