Our Members Are Marching Into Spring!
Join us for First Friday breakfast is 8 a.m. – 9 a.m. tomorrow, March 1. Come have breakfast with us and network with our business community! This month’s breakfast has two guest speakers.
Our first guest speaker is State Labor Commissioner Mark Butler. He will be talking to us about employment and jobs in Jasper County. We are excited to welcome Mr. Butler to Monticello, Jasper County.
Our second speaker will be Lynne Jordan, CAT Chair of Ferst Readers. She will be giving an update on the Ferst Readers as well as information about Seuss on the Loose. Don’t forget to bring your business cards and drop them in our “prize box” as there will be door prizes. Please RSVP by Thursday, February 28.
Stop by our booth on March 2nd at Jasper County High School from 10 a.m. to noon for “Seuss On The Loose – Literacy Festival”. There is a costume contest at 11 a.m. This event is sponsored by Chamber member, Ferst Readers For Childhood Literacy.
This month’s featured window display is Chamber of Commerce member, Piedmont Academy. Piedmont currently employs 45 in our community and has 295 enrolled students that represent Jasper county and surrounding counties. Stop by and take a look at their display in our front window next time you are on the Square in Monticello.
Our second featured window display is Chamber of Commerce member, Ferst Readers.
“Imagine a young child receiving a book in the mail every month until the age of five. What better way to say reading is important? Children enrolled in the Ferst Program receive a new book every month in the mail until their 5th birthday. There is absolutely no cost (ever) to registered children in participating areas! The program is made possible through the partnership with local, all-volunteer Community Action Teams (CATs).
“Funding is provided through private donations, corporate sponsorships and grants. Contact us to help with a local program or get a new one started in your area so that we may work together to bring the gift of literacy to every child 0-5 years old. Partnering together, we can help prepare every child for success in school and in life.”
Be sure to stop by the COC to check out the window display and make plans to attend the Seuss on the Loose event at Jasper County High School on March 2nd from 10 a.m. to noon.
