Do Not Worry

Philippians 4:6-7

Worry is dangerous. It is connected to stress. In 2011, the Mayo Clinic conducted a study that showed a whopping 80 percent of their caseload had illnesses that were directly related to stress. A doctor was quoted during the research as saying, “if more people would stress less, then more diseases would be cured.”

Wow! The physical effects of stress and worry are often obvious. People have different anatomical reactions to worry. Some lose their hair, or their hair changes color. Some people gain weight, while others can’t keep weight on their bodies. Some people work out in the gym like maniacs while others run back and forth to the refrigerator with passion.

Wrinkles, bags, red eyes, shaking hands, smoking, drinking….etc, are all sometimes the result of stress and worry.

When we worry too much over things we can’t change, it will not only effect our bodies, but will also lead to less time spent with God. See, Monticello, when you are focusing on what’s stressing you, then you are NOT focused on the God who is able to deal with what’s stressing you.

You pray less, you read your Bible less, you don’t see the need in going to church and you build a wall of excuses as to how God can’t fix this. God doesn’t need our help to stop our worry. God wants us to give him what’s bothering us.

He will then exchange the worry for something we never expected in the first place. Like…healing, breakthrough, deliverance, unexpected blessings, promise….and the list goes on. Which one do you really want – the stressing or the blessing?

Finally, when we worry, we inflict harm on our bodies, treat God harshly and treat each other bad too. Stressed out people are often mean, short-patient, curt, breathe excessively….and just hard to deal with. But verse 7 and 8 tell us to pray and God will give us peace that is beyond our understanding.

Walking in peace is the antidote to worry. That’s what we should seek and verse 9 reminds us that it’s what we should think on. Don’t allow anyone to disturb your flow of positivity and suck you into their negative world. Walk in Peace and don’t Worry!!

PRAYER OF THE DAY:

“Dear Lord, lift me from the canvas of worry. Speak peace into my spirit all day. I want my walk to match your promise, and be a walk of peace. I shall walk in the confidence of faith, as I see through the lens of prosperity and grace. I shall rise and make your name great. Repeal and replace worry with a peaceful mindset.

In Jesus’ Name…I win and Amen!”
