Cheap Travel: How To
Have you dreamed of going to Venice, Italy and riding in a vaporetto boat along the Grand Canal? Have you dreamed of going to London, England and seeing Buckingham Palaces’ changing of the guard or strolling across Tower Bridge? Or going to the “City of Lights,” Paris, France?
Can’t afford it? Doesn’t it cost a great deal? Maybe for some, but there are people like me who know how to get there for cheap.
First go to Delta.com or American Airlines, AA.com and see the offers for frequent flyer mileage. Currently, American Airlines is offering 50,000 miles if you get their credit card and spend $2,500 in first three months. The first year the credit card is free afterwards it is $99. If you cancel the card within a year, the card will be free and you will get your 50,000 miles. What can you do with that mileage? Example- for 45,000 miles you can fly from Atlanta to Paris, France on November 10 and return on November 19. You would have to pay a fee for lowest mileage package of $87.37.
Paris has an extensive subway system of 16 lines as opposed to Atlanta’s two lines. For around $13 U.S., you can ride the subway or bus lines all day. To get to and from the airport there is a $10 fee each way. Paris is the most beautiful city in the world. So, much history, so many famous sights, you can barely scratch the surface in 10 days. Remember the first and last day are travel days so basically you would have seven days in Paris.
Accommodations in Paris are easy to find. For small budgets stay in hostels, see Hostelworld. Explore the world’s best hostels or various ones around the city. Hotels close into the city are, of course, more expensive, so if you opt for a cheaper hotel seek those on the outskirts.
